AGENDA

 

           Boone Central Board of Education met on Monday, October 8th, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. in the Boone Central Elementary Music Room located at 605 S. 6th Street, Albion, Nebraska.  Members present:  Tom Briese, Karen Kayton, Patti Meyer, Tim Preister.   Larry Temme arrived at 8:00 p.m.   Cindy Hemmer arrived at 8:10 p.m.  Also present:  Larry Lambert, Tim Hamilton, Darrell Barnes, Joyce Olson, Gay Sandman, Dave Olson. 

 

1.000        CALL TO ORDER Vice President Kayton called the meeting to order at 7:55 p.m.

 

                 1.001      Motion by Briese, second by Preister to approve the agenda with the change to add September 23 & 24 board meeting minutes approval to 1.002.  Carried 4-0

 

                 1.002      Motion by Meyer, second by Briese to approve the minutes of the board meetings held September 10th, 23rd, 24th, 2007.   Carried 4-0

 

                 1.003      Motion by Preister, second by Meyer to excuse absent board members, Larry Temme and Cindy Hemmer.  Carried 4-0. (Larry Temme arrived at 8:00 p.m.  Cindy Hemmer arrived at 8:10 p.m.)

 

                 1.004      The next regular meeting is Monday, November 12, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. in the Boone Central Middle School Library located at 203 E. Widaman, Petersburg, Nebraska.  An agenda will be kept current in the SuperintendentÕs Office.

                        2.081  Elementary PrincipalÕs Report – Mr. Hamilton reported on parent-teacher conferences, DIBELS testing, Reading Intervention, and NAEP.

 

                        2.082    Middle School PrincipalÕs Report – Mrs. Thieman was absent. Report on Middle School Parent-Teacher conferences was distributed by Mr. Lambert.

 

                        2.083    Secondary PrincipalÕs Report – Mr. Barnes reported on state golf, CCDC assembly, parent-teacher conferences, 

 

                        2.084    Special Ed DirectorÕs Report – Mrs. Olson updated on verification guidelines from NDE. 

 

                        2.085   SuperintendentÕs Report

                                    1.      Preschool up-date – Five new students have been added to pre-school. 

2.         SuperintendentÕs Calendar-

3.         Auditors were here on September 27th. 

4.         Building up-date. Heating and air conditioning, handicapped parking, sale of greenhouse, Class I school bells, lawn bids.

5.         Public meeting discussion – very low turnout.

6.         Pathways up-date – Enrollment 12 from Boone Central, 2 from Newman Grove, 1 from Cedar Rapids, with possibility of 1 from Elgin and 1 more from Newman Grove.

3.005    Motion by Hemmer, second by Kayton to approve the financial reports and payment of the bills for Boone Central Schools.  Carried 6-0

 

 

3.020                Motion by Meyer, second by Hemmer to approve final reading of Board Policy changes to section 600 through 605.06,  Carried 6-0

                        

 

3.030                Motion by Meyer, second by Hemmer to approve first reading of Board Policy changes to section 606 through 611.09.  Carried 6-0

6.000      EXECUTIVE SESSION

 

               Motion by Meyer, second by Hemmer to go into executive session at 9:50 p.m. to discuss personnel and the evaluation of job performances clearly necessary for the protection of the public interest or for the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual in compliance with the law.  Carried 6-0

 

               Motion by Briese, second by Preister to come out of executive session at 11:20 p.m.  Carried 6-0
